Lan yushādda'd-dīna aḥadun illā ghalabah. No man wrestles with this religion — pushes it into severity, tries to overpower it with intensity — except that it defeats him.
Read that as the prediction it is. It does not say the over-ambitious man will be blamed. It says he will be overcome — not punished, outlasted. The religion will still be there, going at its own steady pace, long after his sprint has ended.
