Whatever the business already runs on — made to talk to the rest

Shehzad Shaikh — the one guy who can work with Software, Hardware, Cloud, ERP and other Systems. Lead Software Engineer at ValetEZ, where I build computer vision and ML on hardware that fits in your palm plus the cloud backend behind it. Independently, I consult on ERP — NetSuite work that makes the ERP talk to everything else.

Most engineers own one box on the diagram. I own the line between them.

Full stack first, then cloud and software architecture, now products where controllers, backends and the ERP all have to agree with each other.

CASE STUDY 01 VALETEZ · 2021 → PRESENT · PRODUCT LEAD → LEAD SOFTWARE ENGINEER

The core backend behind a national smart-parking and mobility platform

Parking, gate ANPR, FASTag, payments and analytics running on one event-driven backend — and a controller fleet in basements and gates that has to keep working when the network doesn't.

PROBLEM

Live sites generate transactions faster than any manual process can follow. Gate hardware fails in ways cloud dashboards never see, and every debugging session used to mean SSH-ing into a device in a basement.

ARCHITECTURE

An event-driven services layer on AWS fronting a controller fleet, with every device pushing structured logs into centralised storage that can be queried across the whole fleet.

RESULT

150k+ transactions a day, 200M+ processed in total and 35M+ FASTag transactions — with one overview dashboard that answers "what broke, where" before anyone logs into a device.

CASE STUDY 02 PARKEZ AI CONTROLLERS · ANPR & PARKING GUIDANCE

Computer vision on hardware that fits in your palm

Slot detection, number plate recognition and floor-level guidance running on palm-sized single-board controllers with 4K cameras — offline-first, with on-device storage and robust sync back to the cloud.

PROBLEM

A basement has poor light, worse connectivity and no tolerance for a barrier that won't open. Cloud-only recognition is too slow and too fragile for a car waiting at a gate.

ARCHITECTURE

Detection and OCR run on the controller itself. Decisions are local; every event is queued on the device and synced to the cloud when the link returns, with a lightweight messaging layer holding the fleet together.

RESULT

Gate ANPR, floor-level guidance and on-ground operations that keep working through a network outage, and reconcile themselves afterwards instead of losing the day's data.

FARIS

Fully Autonomous Reasoning & Intelligence System

My personal Jarvis, and the proof that I run my own business the way I'd build yours. FARIS handles my finances, AR/AP pipelines, SDLC, email and investments — task tracking, time management, meeting intelligence and client analytics in one system.

Mostly done, still growing. It started as automation for my own admin overhead so a tight daily window goes to real work — and it is turning into something other solo operators could use.

Other systems I've shaped

SecurEZ Face AccessACCESS CONTROL

Face Unlock authentication for door access — cameras, controllers and backend policies tied together so authorised faces open doors and everything else is logged.

ChargeEZEV CHARGING · OCPP

An EV charging platform with pay-per-use and subscription models, powering fast AC and DC chargers with support for universal chargers.

GenAI Reporting PlatformNLP → SQL

A reporting layer that turns natural language into SQL, runs it on live data and answers in chat or charts — operational and management reporting without writing queries.

NetSuite CustomizationsERP

Custom records, scripts, workflows and APIs connecting NetSuite to apps, dashboards and external systems — without bending the ERP too far.

$ history

Ten years of taking systems apart

It started with hardware — locked PCs, BIOS passwords, low-level hacks (sorry, dad) — then web development, PHP, Node.js and cloud. The arc ends up in the same place: controllers in basements sending logs to dashboards I built, so we can see what went wrong without touching every device.

Core backend — PHP (CodeIgniter, Laravel) · Node.js · TypeScript · REST APIs · microservices
Cloud & infra — AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, CloudFront, Route53, Lambda, API Gateway, SES, SNS, CloudWatch, VPC, IAM) · Docker · basic Kubernetes
Frontend & apps — Angular · MERN/MEAN patterns · hybrid apps · admin panels and internal tools
ERP & data — NetSuite & SuiteScript · SQL/MySQL · reporting and operational analytics

$ man shehzadSHEHZAD(1)
NAME
shehzad — engineer for systems that touch the physical world
SYNOPSIS
shehzad [--software] [--hardware] [--cloud] [--erp] <your system>
DESCRIPTION
It began with hardware — locked PCs, BIOS passwords, low-level hacks (sorry, dad). Then web development, PHP, Node.js, cloud. Ten years later the curiosity points the same direction: take the thing apart, find out why it broke, and make it tell you next time before you have to ask.
OPTIONS
--offline-first  assume the network will fail; design so it does not matter
--observable    if you need SSH to answer a question, the design is unfinished
--boring        prefer the dull architecture that survives the on-call rotation
--own-it        architecture and execution, not one without the other

The Sins We Stopped Seeing

A book about the sins that went quiet — the ones so ordinary, so woven into a normal day, that they stopped registering as sins at all. Every ayah and every hadith in it names its collection and its number, so nothing has to be taken on trust.

Thirteen chapters, published under the imprint The Quiet Sins. Everything that goes out there is kept here as well — as text you can read, search and check, rather than as pictures that scroll past once and are gone.

The bookNON-FICTION · 13 CHAPTERS

Small sins, counted honestly: the second glance, the rushed prayer, the name that came up, the assumption reached in under a second. Written to lead somewhere, not to accuse — it ends on mercy, not on the arithmetic.

The Arithmetic of SinTOOL · SIX SINS

A calculator for six of them. You supply every premise — your own seconds, your own frequency, your own years — and it multiplies. It asserts no statistics and rules on nothing; each sin carries the narration it comes from, with a link to check it at source.

$ contact --now

Tell me what your system does when it's under load.

Scaling pains, ERP integration headaches, hardware in the field that nobody can debug, or a new product idea. Send a short description of your setup, constraints and goals — I usually reply within 24–48 hours.

Best suited for

  • Teams with a live product that needs to scale, stabilize or modernize.
  • Companies extending NetSuite/ERP into custom apps, dashboards or cloud workflows.
  • Founders who want an engineer who can own architecture and execution.
  • Teams deploying controllers, ANPR, parking guidance or access hardware at scale.

How that usually starts

  • Architecture reviews and migration plans (PHP → Node.js, monolith → services).
  • Implementing or stabilizing high-traffic APIs and controller flows.
  • NetSuite and ERP extensions that plug cleanly into your existing stack.
